October Treats in Portugal

Is October over already?

This special anniversary month — I arrived in Portugal to start a new life on October 1, 2022 — is winding down rapidly. It’s hard to believe we are wrapping up the first full month of fall here in the Northern Hemisphere. October brought many treats — some big and many small — and just a few tiny tricks. I’m ending the month in this space with a contented exhale.

Here’s a quick peek at some of what had me smiling this month. Obrigada, Portugal. Obrigada, outubro.

Yes! I discovered Roda da Sorte, Portugal’s Wheel of Fortune television game show. This treat has become my new obsession if I am at home solo during dinner. Portuguese language learning will never be the same. Incrível!

President Obama in Lisbon was a huge treat.
Here’s to leaning in with class, grace, and intelligence.

It’s easy to forget to not take tomorrow for granted.
Immensely grateful for this dream life.
The facts don’t always warrant a smile, but time catching up with friends always does.
