If you’re a regular reader here or on my Instagram page, you know I like to make up words. “Trumpectomy” and “Back-to-normaling,” for example. Every Monday I’ll feature a new word here for open minds. Any suggestions? Would love those, too.
Largesture
Today’s made-up word is largesture (n): an extravagant gift intended to convey a message to the recipient.
Derived from: largess/largesse (a generous, often ostentatious, bestowal of gifts) + gesture (an action intended for effect or as a demonstration; a form of non-verbal communication)

Thoughts? Suggestions? Let me know in the comments.

I have looked for this word all my life, (no pun)!
I call it “bonus before basic”. You know, when someone offers or does something really big for you (that does not help at all) when what you asked for is the simplest thing.
A mild example: the entire store is on sale and you still have to pay extra for your shopping bag. Don’t laugh; it’s the principle…

Ah, thank you Geoff! If there were a contest, though, I bet your brilliant Zofia would crush me hands down.
