Fearallacy ~ Made-Up Word Monday

If you’re a regular reader here or on my Instagram page, you know I like to make up words. “Trumpectomy” and “Back-to-normaling,” for example. Every Monday I’ll feature a new word here for open minds. Any suggestions? Would love those, too.

Fearallacy

Today’s made-up word is fearallacy (n): A fear based on false, incorrect, or mistaken reasoning.

Derived from: fear (a feeling of strong apprehension; the feeling of being afraid) + fallacy (a false or mistaken idea)

Related: appeal to fear fallacy, in which a person attempts to create support for an idea by attempting to increase fear towards an alternative.
