Xanifest ~ Monday’s Midlife Made-Up Word

If you’re a regular reader here or on my Instagram page, you know I like to make up words. “Trumpectomy” and “Back-to-normaling,” for example. Every Monday I’ll feature a new word here for open minds. Any suggestions? Would love those, too.

Xanifest

Today’s made-up word is xanifest (v): 1. gender-neutral iteration of the word formerly known as “manifest.” 2. shortened form of “jinxanifest” – when a half-ass attempt to manifest something is canceled out by fears of jinxing everything by talking about it.

Derived from: manifest (in spiritual terms, to make an idea or hope apparent and real through positive thought, affirmations, and visualization) + jinx (to bring or attract bad luck).

Reminder from a friend to not xanifest.
Why is it that women, especially, can sometimes fear that great things happening are too good to be true?

  1. Love that question, “Why is it that women, especially, can sometimes fear that great things happening are too good to be true?” Isn’t this foreboding joy? This always makes me think of Brene Brown who in her research of how to counter that shudder of fearing it’s all going to go away is to lean in to gratitude for all the great moments!

I love your definitions! Thanks for making me laugh and think on a Monday morning!

  2. This is so true. I have to admit I’ve allowed my fears to prevent me from verbalizing my hopes and dreams as well. But I’m doing better.

  3. We may have to give up wanting validation and love, yes, for our choices. Only one person can do that… me, you, and any woman who wants to live her best life. 🌹🌹

Know that the game of opposition and judgement toward your plans for yourself is a good thing .It means you’re onto something. 🌹🌹

If it is too good to true, maybe it is. Breathe it in. Exhale with a smile.
