If you’re a regular reader here or on my Instagram page, you know I like to make up words. “Trumpectomy” and “Back-to-normaling,” for example. Every Monday I’ll feature a new word here for open minds. Any suggestions? Would love those, too.
Attenuability
Today’s made-up word is attenuability (n): the power to decrease the intensity of something.
Derived from attenuate (to weaken or reduce in force, intensity, or effect) + ability (power or capacity to do or act).

I always check to make sure a word I’ve “made up” is not an actual word before I post it here. Sometimes I think words are “real” when, in fact, they do not exist in any standard dictionary. This is one of those words. Believe it or not, “attenuable” and “attenuability” are not recognized words in dictionary sources. I’m running with it here, but please let me know if I missed something.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Let me know in the comments.

I love your note about checking to see if things are already valid words – because yes, this one is so logical and lyrical that I could have sworn I heard it before! Love it!
