Midlife snark

Sunday Snarky Pie ~ Sweetie Time in Midlife

If you’re a regular reader here you know I like my pie. Pie charts, that is. Apparently my readers like them too, so I’m serving a helping of straight snarky pie here every Sunday. These infographics are a brief visual summary of my weekly phone chats with a girlfriend. Feel free to chime in down in the comments. Nobody can dish like two midlife women. So grab a fork and join me for a quick slice o’ pie.

Phone chat topic this week: Our chats of late have not been the stuff of giggles and guffaws, so today I’m serving flashback snarky bars for Sunday dessert. This timeless chart is from a post last year.

Sweetie Time in Midlife

Takeaway:

More Me time, please.

Hanging Out With Your Honey Then vs. Now

In our 20s and 30s, we want to spend every moment with our significant other. Everything’s a 10!

By our 40s, together time changes as perimenopause becomes a thing and spending the night together in the same bed loses its luster. Shopping is for home improvement projects…and his wardrobe improvement so he looks better to friends and family.

Oh hell no! By our 60s, we’ve reached our last nerve and he’s on it. Solo female travel grows in popularity. Time with friends and family offers a welcome break from sweetie. Free outdoor activities remain a 10 due to fixed retirement income.

OK, maybe we’re not this bad.

  1. Totally agree …. the butterflies and “swooning” at their presence certainly disappears over time. As a very independent, over 50 female, my husband and I have recognized that our life rhythms have changed. Now we both enjoy time together and time apart which makes the time together more enjoyable! Always love your “snarky pie”! Best Wishes! Leigh
