If you’re a regular reader here or on my Instagram page, you know I like to make up words. “Trumpectomy” and “Back-to-normaling,” for example. Every Monday I’ll feature a new word here for open minds. Any suggestions? Would love those, too.
Stigmulate
Today’s made-up word is stigmulate (v): to activate guilt — feeling bad about something you did — or shame — feeling bad about yourself.
Derived from stimulate (to activate, arouse, or awaken) + stigma (a mark of guilt or disgrace).

Thank you for stopping by! I have a long and toxic relationship with this word too. Here’s to shutting down stigmulation and embracing our new lives with joy!

Ugh this word hits too close to home!
Also pffftttt to whoever reacts negatively! You’re living your dream! They are probably just projecting their fears/jealousy of not living theirs. Also they really should be seeing this as a great excuse to travel to Portugal/I mean visit you 😉

Thank you so much for this! 💜💜 I have fallen prey to stigmulation most of my life, so it feels good to stand up to it now at 62. I think we should create a Stigmulation Slayer sash for Badasses 💥😂🦸🏽♀️

Not sure how anyone can criticize us for the choices we make. Part of life’s beauty is exploring and challenging ourselves with rich new experiences.

I get it … family never likes change that is in our best interest. I am hopeful that your friends and family will eventually get on board and be a tremendous support in your journey. You are awesome and I know that will want to maintain that relationship and perhaps be “stretched” to grow themselves. Also, you are amazing and this journey is leading you to your best life. Go For It!!! Best Wishes! Leigh

What a wonderful adventure you’ve chosen after a career of service to children and families. Too bad your own family doesn’t choose to celebrate with you and visit beautiful Portugal as cerebrations said above!
